How does Holidu Protect work?
What is Holidu Protect?
Holidu Protect (powered by Truvi) is an optional damage protection service that replaces traditional security deposits.
For €3 per booked night, your property is protected against guest damages up to €50,000.
Instead of asking guests for deposits, Holidu Protect provides automatic coverage in case of accidental, intentional, or criminal damages during a stay.
Important to know:
- The €3/night fee is automatically deducted from your payout.
- Once activated, your property is covered for all future Holidu bookings (across all platforms we support).
- This feature is currently only available in selected areas. We will inform you when Holidu Protect becomes available in your region.

What happens when Holidu Protect is active?
- Deposits are automatically disabled for the protected property.
- Guests are screened for potential risks after a confirmed booking
Screening outcomes:
- Approved: Full €50,000 coverage. Granted in 99.5 % of all cases
- Flagged: Limited coverage up to €1,000 (~1 out of 300 bookings).
- Rejected: Booking is canceled automatically without any penalties or fees for you. This may take a day or two.
You will be able to see if a guest has been flagged or rejected in the booking details.

Note:
Coverage applies only if the damage was caused by an approved guest. The booking needs to happen while Holidu Protect (powered by Truvi) was activated for the affected property.
A few important notes:
- Holidu Protect only applies to Holidu bookings (not manual bookings, iCal imports, or external channels unless managed through Holidu).
- Coverage starts only for bookings confirmed after Holidu Protect activation.
- Bookings made before activation are not retroactively covered.
- Communication about claims is directly between you and Truvi.
- There is no minimum claim value. You can submit any kind of damage from €0.01 to €50,000.

Can I use Holidu Protect together with a security deposit?
No. Activating Holidu Protect automatically disables the security deposit for that property.
Security deposits are a hurdle for many guests, and you might lose bookings by having it activated. Holidu Protect covers all the security needs you’ll have.
Which types of bookings are covered?
All Holidu bookings across supported channels are included.
Manual or external bookings (iCal) are not covered.
How will I know if a guest is flagged or rejected?
You will see the screening status inside your booking details and receive a notification in case of rejections.
What can I do when a guest is flagged or rejected?
- Flagged: There is nothing to do here. You are still protected for up to €1,000. This usually happens because the email or phone number could not be verified.
- Rejected: This booking is canceled automatically. There are no cancellation fees or penalties applied.
Does the cancellation of a rejected booking negatively influence my ranking or Star Host status? Will I have to pay a cancellation fee?
No. Holidu does not charge you a cancellation fee if you cancel after receiving unfavorable screening results. These cancellations also do not influence your ranking or Star Host status.
Is the guest involved in the claim process?
No. Claims are handled professionally by Truvi, without involving the guest, helping you avoid disputes and bad reviews.
Is Holidu Protect available for all properties?
Holidu Protect is available in Andalusia (Spain), Algarve & Alentejo (Portugal), Southern Italy, Bavaria (Germany) and Austria. More areas will follow soon.
What happens if I deactivate Holidu Protect?
Existing bookings made while Holidu Protect was active remain covered. New bookings after deactivation will not be covered.
