The narrow streets of the historical centre offer some excellent restaurants and cafés. There are many wonderful beaches along the coast, including Zusterna Beach (4 minutes by car) and Svetilnik Beach (11 minutes by car).

Further along the coast is the charming harbour town of Izola.

One of the oldest settlements on the coast it is packed with history and has a lively marina.

Visitors can hire kayaks and paddle boards to explore this stunning coastline. Away from the coast, the area is famous for its rock formations, caves and subterranean rivers.

Skocjan Caves (30 minutes) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a spectacular series of caves, stalagmites and stalactites. For self-catering, Koper’s daily farmers’ market is just 9 minutes away.
